We would like to thank everyone who participated
in their groups and also attended outings
this
year. It is this kind of support that makes OTT a successful group and fun to
go to.
I know it is late, but a belated thank you for
re-electing Marlene and I to the President's position. Until we got back from
our travels and got caught up on the news, we were not taking anything for
granted.
Now it is back to the antifreeze, bypasses and
trying to find space for all the stuff that has to come out of the
motorhome. Just some of the joys of
staying in Ontario.
Have a good winter everyone, and we look
forward to next year and more good times.

Attendees:
Barton, Beardsall, Bessette, Binks, Dudley, Hill, Holborn, Holman,
Massey, Miles, Naderer, Pickersgill, Robitaille, Rung, Ruppel, Sallows, Toldi,
Van Kesteren, Watkins and Wicks
A sunny sky but chilly
air greeted the attendees for the weekend with twenty units making the trek to
Galvin Bay. Each day much appreciated
afternoon campfires were made and kept burning by Ed Holborn.
Friday
morning saw us enjoying breakfast together followed by a craft for the ladies @
10:00 a.m. while the men solved all the motor home problems in the park. Very attractive and colourful canvas bags
were the result of using wood burning tools and craft paint. Many thanks to Marilyn Wicks' friend
Christine for showing us how to make them.
The afternoon was free to explore the area or sit and enjoy the
conversation around the campfire. A
yummy pork dinner was prepared by Group 4 Friday evening followed by a raffle
for a 'Home Sweet Home' cross stitch door hanging made by Debbie Robitaille and
won by Bill Miles. Debbie very
generously donated all the proceeds to the club ($95.00). Later a couple of games of 'Chase the Ace'
were played and won by Jim Pickersgill and Wayne Sallows.
Early
Saturday we all gathered for breakfast before going our own ways for the
afternoon. By dinner time we met at the
clubhouse for a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings including
Christmas pudding. The tables were all
aglow with candle center-pieces for each couple to take home made by Larry
& Cathy Massey with Gerald Robitaille supplying the OTT decals.. Below the Christmas tree was quite a display
of gifts for children 14 and under donated by our members to be presented to
the Peterborough Needy Kids by Larry Massey on behalf of OTT. Joining us for
dinner were the new grandparents, Stan and Lois Parish. Congratulations Stan & Lois on your new
Granddaughter! While some members left
for the Observatory, others played
'Chase the Ace' games with
Dorothy Ruppel and Johanna Van Kesteren the winners.
Sunday brought to a close a very enjoyable
weekend with a spread of leftovers for breakfast before everyone left for home.
The winnings of the baseball pool went to the two Dorothy’s, Dorothy Ruppel
receiving $5. and Dorothy Hill got $20..
Great Job Group 4!! - Hill, Holman, Massey, Miles, Naderer, Robitaille
and Wicks.
Reported by Anne Sallows
With careful planning and much time spent
watching for sales and deals Group IV was able to provide the food for the
whole weekend at a cost of $20 per
couple. The $200.00 allowed for by the
club for the purchase of turkeys was not used.
I’m sure there were a lot of donations and I know a lot of prep time
before hand. The members and the
treasury appreciate your time and effort, well done.

The
Great Canadian RV in New market is relocating to Nappanee (Hwy 401/Hwy 41
interchange) right across from the Flying J.
We wish them well in their new venture.
They have assured us, they will continue to sponsor our Web-Site for
which we are very grateful.
Larry
Massey approached Graham Smith of Great Canadian to ask how we as members of
OTT could help the dealership. Graham
said it would be of great help if we could make ourselves available to help out
at the RV Shows. Hand out brochures, man
the booth, welcome people etc to free up the sales people to make
presentations. We will certainly work
towards doing this but it would be much easier if there was a volunteer to
co-ordinate it.

We know nothing much is happening in your life lately but have a happy
Birthday and keep on moving.
Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words "The" and "IRS" together
it spells "Theirs."
Once again we have a dilemma of where to hold
the Sunday Brunch that is most central for everyone. We have asked the members for suggestions but
I guess no one goes out for Brunch anymore.
The executive have looked at two locations and would like your feed
back.
Stone Crock Inn in St Jacob ( $100.00 for room). http://www.stjacobs.com/html/stone_menu.html
Elm Hurst Inn near Woodstock http://www.elmhurstinn.com/restaurant/Buffet_menu_2007-2.pdf
Please
follow these links and see for yourself then take the time to e-mail or
telephone an executive member and express your opinion.

Happy Anniversary! It's incredible.....Together all this time and
you're still walking arm in arm!
Is it love, or are you holding each other up?
Ben
Franklin said: in wine
there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria
.In a number of carefully controlled trials,
scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the
end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo, E. coli - bacteria
found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine
& beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go
through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk
stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit
Canada,
according to the United Nations, is one of the best, if not the best country in
the world to live in. our citizens are
blessed with freedom, opportunity and a standard of living that is unrivalled
in today’s world, and without parallel in history. Canadians are correct to express pride in
their ancestors for building such a great nation and in themselves for
preserving it. However, this did not
occur by chance; it is a result of tireless effort in the past that is carried
on by those of today. World events
during the 20th century have caused Canadians to come together as
one and take up arms with our allies to defeat those that would seek to
subjugate others. But, as our nature, we
are citizen sailors. soldiers and airmen who answer the call and return to
civilian life as soon as the battle is won.
This trait is borne out in our military history. Remember the active military and our veterans
on November 11th. Lest we forget. (printed from the Royal
Canadian Legion)
A special thank you to the folks who shared
their pictures with me. The pictures
from the last outing are posted on the website, just follow the links.
The web-site is updated on a regular bases and
I try to keep it interesting and fresh so please visit it often and make my
efforts worthwhile.
Last year we had a spot on the website listing the whereabouts of
folks who traveled south for the winter.
Most of us found it very useful so I will do my very best to keep it
updated. In order to do that, you must
drop me an email or phone and let me
know where you will be for a week, a month or the winter. In order to access ‘where is everybody’ you
have to enter the members only section.
You know the drill; your last
name (with no spaces), with a capital for the first letter then your WIT # with
a capital W.
Safe travels to all who venture south this
winter, enjoy the weather and don’t forget to keep in touch and send your
pictures. mrd91@mnsi.net

It is with regret that we heard the news of
two members not renewing their membership this year. Gale will not be renewing due to the ill
health of Bernice and Muirhead due to the ill health of Bob. Prayers and good wishes go out to you both.
Hope it's not long till you're feeling healthy and strong and your illness is
over for good,
The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material - I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. WELL...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film , but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free - that nice fragrance too, you know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box, well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire and potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! Not my story but I sure checked my filter even though I don’t use dryer sheets.
Seasons
Greetings
Hoping that your Christmas is glittering with
good cheer - and wishing you, with lots of warmth, much happiness throughout
the year. The executive wish you all a
Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
If you are in the south, sunshine to bask in and if you are home for the
holidays, just enough snow to make things white and bright.

Christmas Toy DriveMany thanks to all who contributed to the toy
drive held at the October outing. A wide range of toys/gifts were collected for
each age group. There were trucks and cars, balls, stuffed animals, books and
pens, Tonka toys, dolls, games, things for older kids, you name it and I think
it’s there. What a great selection.
We and some other members of the club will
deliver them to the toy drive here in
