We're off to a good start with
two campouts under our belts, so let's keep it up. The season will
end soon enough. Seven of our members have indicated they will be
attending GNR, so even if the rest of Ontario stays away we should make an
impression. Of course, being rather shy and reserved I'll let some others lead
the way.
As we sit in our hot but not
humid weather in Iowa, we will raise a cool frosty one to all those stuck in
hot and humid Ontario. Look forward to getting back together later in the
summer.

….as
reported by Bev Dudley
The camp grounds at Science Hill in
St. Mary’s are groomed almost as well as the greens on the golf course. With all the rain we have and did have, the
grounds were a lush green. Right across
the road from our sites there was a large, covered pavilion which we made good
use of over the course of the weekend.
The rigs began to arrive shortly after nine
a.m. and we had quite a group in by noon.
It was quite cool sitting around so Anne decided to remedy that by
putting on a pot of coffee for happy hour.
The fact that she brought out a bottle of Bailey’s to fortify it is
really of no consequence! The evening
was quiet with a few of the hardy folks sitting out in the shelter.
Friday morning following a repast of coffee and
baked goods a group of six, five guys and Johanna, headed off to the golf
course. Eileen, with the help of
Bernice and Marjorie introduced the rest of the ladies to the art of “Spider
Weaving”. It is fun and addictive, kept
most of us busy for the weekend. Watch
for the gals wearing beautifully decorated shirts at the next outing.
Campfire, that wondrous crackle of the wood
burning, the smell of smoke and the sight of dancing flames had us almost
completely mesmerized. It was a little
cool and damp but there was no rain.
Saturday, we awoke to sunshine which quickly
changed to a heavy downpour. The rain
let up so we could hear during the meeting and again for a round of golf but
the hail just before supper time; we could nicely have done without. Despite the weather and with the strategic
placement of tarps our Pot Luck Supper
went off without a hitch. As usual there
was an abundance of delicious food. There
was a golf game scheduled for 7 p.m. but the rain cancelled that idea. Johanna decided one way or another she was
going to play “golf” and proceeded to teach a number of the ladies a card game
called; non other then “golf”. The rain
did let up for a nice campfire.
Sunday turned out to be a gorgeous day after a
foggy start but we were lucky to get on the road when we did. That evening St. Mary’s was hit with a
tornado.
Despite the weather, it was a great weekend of
fun and friendship.
They weren’t lost, just misplaced. The Flags were in the carrier, where they are
supposed to be and the tarps; well they showed up in the President’s basement.

I walked into a Mickey D's with a
buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a sandwich.. I handed it to the girl and
she looked over at a little chalkboard that said "buy one-get
one free." "They're already buy-one-get-one-free", she said,
"so I guess they're both free"
She handed
me my free sandwiches and I walked out the door.
One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when one of
them shouted, "Look at that dead bird!"
Someone
looked up at the sky and said, "Where?"
I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center.
One day I got a call from an individual who
asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, "The number you dialed
is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific
time?"
Wanting to
end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific."
