President’s Message

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, and I know where the birdies is - they're messing all over my deck.

Greetings everyone, and welcome back from the depths of winter. We went on a cruise, spent some time in Marco Island, FL, and Marlene got to ski with her granddaughters, so all is well in the world.  Now all she wants to know is when do the ski hills open.

Now comes the chore of getting those stored rigs back on the road. Our first outing in May is a little earlier than usual, so it's time to get out the bucket, etc and get busy. Maybe I should just dig a hole and put the old Elante out of it's misery.

We got a nice write up in the Feb/Mar WIT magazine. Thanks to everyone who contributed toys at Galvin Bay and to the Massey's and Wicks for getting them delivered, and of course to secretary Bev for getting the write up in.

Realignment of the groups was accomplished with only two moves and was necessary to keep an even balance. My thanks to Bev & Bob for looking into this.

Get your stories ready for the spring brunch, as you know there will be plenty of questions flying. Look forward to seeing everyone again.

Have a great day!

Computer Seminars

I just thought I'd let you know that the NetWIT's have asked me and Bettyann to do Computer Seminars at GNR again this year.  We have been running seminars for RVers here in Florida this winter.  It has been rewarding for us watching people learn and getting everyone's computer working.

Our seminar topics have included:  Working with Windows Vista, Digital Photography (taking pictures from Camera to Email and Facebook), Free stuff (Antivirus programs etc.).  We also have talked about various ways to communicate with family and friends including SKYPE, MSN, MagicJack etc.

After the seminars we typically will work one-on-one with the attendees to solve specific problems they have with their computers.  This winter we have had about 40 attendees more than half of whom had issues with their laptops that varied from not working at all to some small but irritating things,

We, of course, don't charge for the seminars and that in particular, makes them very popular.

Fred & Bettyann Jennings

Editor’s Note:

Fred and Bettyann have been very generous with their time and equipment for our club members.  They have downloaded “Open Office” for a good number of our members so they could receive the newsletter by e-mail for which we are truly grateful.  Perhaps after one of our meetings Fred could spend a few minutes to instruct on how to clean-up e-mails before forwarding so you are not passing on everyone’s e-mail address.

TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.

When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.

Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.

Our name is Shelter Valley Campground and our address is 36534 Huron Rd which is also Hwy # 8 on your road map.  This is a long story but our mailing address is RR 2 Clinton N0M 1L0 but our location or 911 address is 36534 Huron Rd Goderich N7A 3X8. Unfortunately Goggle earth uses the postal code part and the locations direct you to the post offices neither are park locations.  Goderich is the town which we are physically closer to.  Our actual location is 5 miles or 8 km east of Goderich on Hwy# 8 or 7 miles or about 12 km west of Clinton on Hwy 8.  From the Hwy only our large purple sign is visible.(attachment)  The campground is .5km down the driveway to the river flats.  It is really quite easy to find but asking anywhere in the area and you can get more directions.   I have attached a map that might to helpful for campers coming from various locations.
